Ulrike talks pitcher plants with Genetics Unzipped, the podcast of the Genetic Society

In the latest episode of Genetics Unzipped, I talk to Sally Le Page about how tropical pitcher plants use biomechanical tricks to disrupt insect adhesion and trap prey, and how this could help us in the future to create better protected crop plants. This was even more fun because my friends and collaborators Kadeem Gilbert and Tanya Renner also contributed to the same podcast, talking about digestive enzymes and their potential genetic transfer to non-carnivorous tobacco and tomato plants.
